its like … feeling connected to a Thing commonly animals/beings such as angels, demons, aliens, certain cryptids/celestial things like stars/sometimes abstract concepts or things like white noise n u can also kin with songs ! and (for me) they can be regular kins (so things that i feel a kinship with hence the terminology), ids (something i identify with/as and feel that i actually am) and higher ids (something that i Actually believe is me (personally i often have delusions abt them) and may have memories of being) but the “levels” i guess u would say are different for everyone! and ur kin can be very specific or not specific at all like for instance u could kin with a particular breed and color of dog or u could just kin with dogs in general, or in my case i id with deer in general but specifically fawns ! i think a lot of the time its used to deal with mental illness (i have kintypes because im autistic and have extreme identity issues caused by like bpd or whatever) but i think ? otherkin is also a part of some indigenous cultures however i dont know anything about it and im not indigenous so i wont speak about it

theres also fictionkin which is like otherkin except with characters ! apart from that its pretty much the same and like factkin is also a thing which is with real people and im not going to talk about it publicly bc its a controversial topic that im kinda sorta on the fence with (not really i just dont wanna argue about it)
